Everlasting Union
By Adi Narayan Ji
My Lord is approaching.
I feel His breath within;
my heart quivers.
My nerves set aflame,
blue-gold embers fill my veins.
The burning in my chest has begun.
My tongue presses into my back.
All rapturous pleasures of the heart awaken.
My head kissed becomes blissed.
All galaxies appear;
universes shine and burst inner-sight.
My back arches and plunges into the earth and into the heavens.
My hair grows long and curls into tumbling oceanic waves.
My eyelashes lengthen and curl,
blacked lines outline the eyes.
My eyes widen and bow, all at the same time.
Diamonds pierce into my ears and either sides of my nose.
My cheeks blush and my lips become full.
A robust scent of roses fills my body,
and the airs all around.
He enters,
and we are as eternal lovers in everlasting union.
So it is day and night, day and night,
The Lord enters my soul anew.
The Last Hours of Night
By Adi Narayan Ji
My Beloved left in the last hours of night.
Gone into the morning mist.
I collected the dew on the grass,
I drank him in slowly, but it was not enough.
The blazing came too quickly, the sun dried what
dew remained, morning was in full again.
I was alone, longing, in the light of day I prayed only for night.
I slept till night and awaited with my bursting chest.
As the hours of the darkest dark neared,
oud filled the air; O how it drove my mind into blissful madness.
By this time it was more than I could bare, my body became listless.
This sweet scent entered my chest and my heart felt to stop.
My chest forgot to breathe, my love had covered me in his embrace.
I wanted for nothing, fulfilled was all that ever exists.
We enwrapped, coiled, bathed in opalescent white golden light.
All of me came into the paradise of heaven.
Shared Breath
By Adi Narayan Ji
Love will take you gently by the hand,
and throw you off the cliff.
Love will drown you and hold you under Its grip.
Love will flood your being with foreign breaths
that will leave you gasping for old airs,
but resuscitation will not be given.
Love’s breath will be taken in until you learn
how to live with Its breath in your breath,
until your organs of life have forgotten old airs of self.
When the last of old has left and been exhausted
and the first full breath has been taken in,
never more will you breathe alone,
but live forever in shared breath.
I Dare To Tell You The Truth
By Adi Narayan Ji
I dare to tell you the truth:
to love is to suffer.
For love eats of itself, to taste its glory.
Visceral Rapture
By Adi Narayan Ji
This time when My Beloved came to me,
it was a crushing within my head,
and a bursting from its outer shell.
My hands pressed deep within the sides of my head,
as if to keep the juices from flowing out.
This was the foot upon my being,
agony and sweet sweet bliss from within.
A visceral rapture erupted in waves
of love-bliss, love-pain, love-agony,
of both a physical and mystical nature.
So it was the day He came to me,
that set upon my being, that nothing,
nothing,
He would not do to bring me back to Him.
The fear of that love shook me,
and as I fell, kneeled to the floor, tears flowing,
hands bearing the bliss of the Being,
the wine was flowing,
as the foot upon the grape bore down its perfect measure.
Ordained
By Adi Narayan Ji
Just as the tongue is forever moistened
by the choice-less appearance of saliva,
so too the heart is ever-soaked in peace
by the choice-less appearance of Union with my Lord.
An Offering For Lovers on Their Walk to The Beloved
By Adi Narayan Ji
Though I may have chances to assert my wisdom before others
whom claim to know more, in the Path of Love, I choose to speak the least.
Though I may have chances to assert my wisdom before others
whom claim to know more in the Path of Love, I choose to speak the least.
Hold your pearls for those who sincerely seek to know and are travelling the love-filled path.
Or else, only your pride will grow.
Discern when your wisdom through your words may highlight the ignorance of those around.
Deem first if their hearts are open. Or else choose to be silent.
For you will only grow in vanity, and they will never allow your words to enter.
Let them laugh and call you a child because your stature may be small.
Let them stand upon your head, for their greatness is only temporary.
Bear the slights of those who think they love, until they build a wall where they themselves cannot climb.
Then extend a loving hand, and help them over.
Smile and be alike to all. The universe will separate the whey from the curd. Why take it upon thyself?
Love, love, love, until He clears the fields. Thornless roses will bloom.
Be silent when the clearing begins; no matter how dark the storm.
What must be gone, will be gone for the new fields to grow.
Trust that your love way was true. Faith will bear you through.
Do not make your walk to Love a crusade amongst all you know.
You would be surprised that you will become more the crown of thorns upon their heads,
than the light in their ears.
Do not make your walk to Love a crusade amongst all you know.
You would be surprised that they will become a crown of thorns upon your head,
rather lovers of The Beloved.
See the good and rest the mind.
Though you may get hurt, your seeing evil skews your vision of The Beloved.
Walk always with a bowed head, and you will become headless.
For the crown does not rest on the head, but rather the soul of The Lover.
Birth
By Adi Narayan Ji
Everything has changed,
and is changing over and over.
Rolling waves of love embrace and enfold
endlessly into my being.
Every cell meets in union,
diving upon itself into and outward,
birthing of its origination.
Love sheds its outer skins by the inward rising;
undulating like the virgin’s contractions,
Birthing the Prince of Love.
Love’s embodiment of love.
The Sting of Being and Becoming
By Adi Narayan Ji
My heart was stung by a honey bee. It decided not to leave but made its home within my heart. The honey bee said its Queen desires my heart for a home. My heart said “No” but the honey bee laughed and burrowed himself in my heart’s inner chamber.
After some years, the honey bee left and brought back with him his Queen and all her servants. They entered with great pain and heartache as never before I had experienced.
This heart was about to burst, but it did not. The inner workings over years and years of the single bee made my heart indestructible to the colony’s movements, and transfigurations of its inner structures.
The colony spent years and years growing and building more and more chambers to hold its kith and kin and honey filled the combs, from which they all fed.
Their synchronous fluttering wings made winds of honey scents that drove my mind to ecstasy; and I gave them my total being.
The colony grew and grew. My body became swollen and stretched to extremes. To look at me was to see my blood just below my skin and alighted by veins of golden honey.
When I opened my mouth, the scent of honey escaped and scented my breath in the air. My tears were sweetened. If one touched my skin, its pores would open and honey beads would arise.
After twenty years of ridicule for my illness, I became a recluse. I hid deep in the gardens of fragrant flowers that the bees had led me to for their sustenance. Their survival was now of the utmost importance to me.
I asked them once why they had chosen me. They said the Queen felt the beating of my heart from a thousand miles away, and deemed it befitting of her residence and children.
She said, after forty years the colony would leave, for their work would be done.
Nearing my sixtieth year, she sent a message that they were leaving. More than that, she did not say.
In one movement, a massive exodus took place.
I almost died; for my body had become so accustomed to its honey hosts.
The Alchemy of Tears
By Adi Narayan Ji
Your beauty: more than words.
I have none to describe You.
Only the tear that touches Thy Feet,
is worthy of carrying my Love for You.
In that drop,
alchemized by my very soul,
offers itself to Thee, O Lord.
All of me, melted in this tear.
This one drop holds the entirety of me.
Providence
By Adi Narayan Ji
The moment love awakens in your heart, the whole cosmos rejoices.
Love’s breath has christened your true life into the Beloved’s arms.
Rejoice O child! Rejoice!
For even though you have not seen your Beloved,
He is alive and walking towards you.
Open closed eye and behold the bliss of union’s christening.
Now it is just time; time until the Lover and Beloved meet.
The Lover’s Desire
By Adi Narayan Ji
O My Beloved, come. I desire.
Just as sugar and water meet in love,
come, and take me into Thee;
where you or I,
neither knows what has become of us.
Only the universe tastes thereafter
the fruits of our Union.
The Eternal Master
By Adi Narayan Ji
The mystic is ever-present.
The Eye of Spirit above.
Union of the heart from within.
All culminates in Satchitananda.
Emanation of The Beloved streams from His Beingness in him,
To bathe the universe in Love that is.
The Emancipation of Eternal Light
By Adi Narayan Ji
When last we walked My Beloved,
I remember our hands brushed.
The bliss, raised every hair on my body.
You turned to me,
Your eyes alit of universal delight.
I became blind.
We emptied into a pool of Eternal Light.
My Beloved, this night
I came to know your Eternal Light.
You set me free, forever, and ever, and forever.
